A message from Neil Grant:

Flood transport update.

As from Monday (30th July) Radio Sheffield (HSBC) are 'employing' a transport logistics manager to organise the collection & distribution of the flood victims supplies.  Plus today (I hope by now) a Hub just off Sheffield Parkway is being loaned to the scheme from Sheffield City Council that will allow the goods to be collected unloaded sorted and then redistributed to victims.

So thanks to those churches that offered their halls and the like to act as 'hubs'.

however drivers are still needed so if you can email me yours or any volunteers details (names, & phone numbers (inc mobile) plus gen. availability e.g evening, weekends etc. )  then I will forward these to the logistics manager & team so they can contact you directly.

I delivered an estate full of cleaning & personal hygiene supplies to Catcliffe yesterday. They were received with great thanks & are amazed at the generosity of people. So thank you for those who supplied these goods. We may need more so be warned.

What would be good to also pass on to your church is that most people won't be in their homes for months and that we will need to keep offering help for months.

However the residents of Winn Gardens will be moving back into their homes in September & St Johns, Owlerton are going to be calling on you to help decorate homes on the estate. Not decorating for but working along side the residents.

One last thing BBC Radio Sheffield Action Desk are asking us to find some accommodation for a volunteer for 8 months. There's even some money for it accommodation. Is there some one out there who can immediately help.

God Bless & thanks again 'Church'. You don't realise what an impact we are making. Keep it up.

Neil Grant

The Christmas season 2008 is again upon us and last week saw our Christmas activities and services well attended. The Christmas Party at Chapel was very enjoyable, thanks to Diedre, Margaret Washbourne  and Libby who organised it.

Tne Anamchara Service on 14th was well attended, despite other events and the Nativity filled the church as members of Sunday Club and BB provided a wonderful evening. Thanks to Cynthia Drury-Smith who chose the music and trained the singers, Diedre Smith who trained the actors and a tecnical team headed up by Richard Garrett and all the Sunday Club staff who worked hard to ensure an excellent enactment of the Christmas story

Monday 15th again saw a full church for the BB carol service of songs old and new and 9 lessons. Readers were, Daniel Bowden, Harry Butler, Joseph Smillee, Laura Higginbottom, Janet Larkin, Anne Chadwick, Joel Thompstne, Neil Oxley and Alexander Pymm.

On Sunday 21st 2008 the Church was yet again full to capacity for our Carol Service.

On Christmas Eve over 800 people walked around Coal Aston following Mary, Joseph and the Donkey Journeying to Bethlehem. What a fantastic event this was, one in the eye for those who believe in Winter Holidays, instead of Christmas celebrations. This will remain in the minds of all who took part long after Christmas 2009 is forgotton and every last morsal of turkey and glass of wine is drunk, as nice as it is.
