Easter at Coal Aston

For those of you who associate Easter with eggs and the Easter Bunny, you will be suprised to know that Easter is the most important time in the church calender. It marks the death of Jesus on the cross, the most terrible instrument of torture devised by the Romans. For those of you wearing it as jewellery, it is akin to wearing the rack or the stake at which so many were burned to death.

Jesus died on Good Friday, and rose from death on Easter Day, symbolically taking our sins to the grave and bringing hope and salvation to humankind. The account of which can be found in John's Gospel chapters 18,19 and 20. Read the eye witness account.

Coal Aston celebrates this event by a series of early morning communions, at St Pauls started by Rev Nigel Hannah, our Minister in 1979. We are now joined by many other churches. On Good Friday churches throughout Dronfield will meet at the Baptist Church at 10.30 for a parade of witness and a service.

On Easter Day we shall be celebrating "The Resurrection"at sunrise on Millstone Edge and returning back to church for communion and a cooked breakfast. If you would like to join us ring Tony Drury-Smith 07930 177764
