Boys` Brigade activities, overview

We have always specialised in outdoor activities which are appropriate for your child, such as climbing, caving, canoeing, sailing, expedition and Duke of Edinburghs award. We also look to enter teams for 5-a-side on Saturdays in 3 age groups 8-11, 11-14, 14+.

We have an annual camp at Wainfleet near Skegness at the end of July for Year 6 and above and a Junior Camp June/July.

We have Seniors weekends, camping, bivouacing and expeditions.

For our Amicus group we have regular bowling, and social events and a weekend in April .   We also visit a National "Greenbelt event" over Spring Bank Holiday called "Firm Foundations" . See our national website for details : www.boys-brigade.org.uk

Throughout the year we have visits which have included: Alton Towers, NEC Classic Car Show, Pantomime, Santa Special, Whirlow Grange Farm, Magna, Mining Museum and local museums and parks.

On Monday nights our programme will usually contain some of the following:

  1. Creative activities such as drama, music/singing, craft, cooking, woodwork, colouring, drawing, painting, model making and clay work.
  2. Christian festivals and the life of Jesus. Introduction to prayer, the bible and the Christian Faith.
  3. Physical activities such as games, unihoc, agilities, gymnastics, healthy living, table tennis snooker.
  4. Community activities such as first aid, care for the environment, fundraising for and third world awareness, recycling, home and road safety
  5. Interest and mind activities such as quizzs, wordsearches, memory agilities,the night sky, scientific experiments, hobbies.

             For older members we have our own leadership courses and a badge structure underpins all activities leading to Queens award and DEA.
